Founded in 1978, the irst 'au bon pain' was nothing more than a small urban cafe selling the freshest baguettes & croissants in Boston.

History:
After Ron Shaich was falsely accused of shoplifting and then kicked out of a convenience store while still a student, he launched a rival shop & his business career. 20 years later, Shaich made a name for himself as the owner of Au Bon Pain, an East Coast bakery chain he grew from three stores into a $200 million a year company. Many thought Shaich was crazy when, in 1999, he sold "Au Bon Pain..."

Today, the passion for excellence has made 'au bon pain' one of the fastst growing cafe chains in the world.

Internationally renowned executive chef Thomas John has created a menu full of delightful flavor, spice, taste combinations.

Cafe's staff treats each and every customer like an invited guest.Cafe 'au bon pain' focuses on nutrition, commitment to providing a variety of lower sodium, lower calorie, higer protein, vegetarian and zero grams trans fat menu offerings. Majority of baked goods & sandwiches have zero grams of trans fat. "au bon pain' is "beyond the ordinary cafe."
